Safeguarding
Safeguarding at our school
At Braunston CE Primary School, we regard the safeguarding of children as our main priority. We believe that we all have the right to be happy, to be safe and to learn. We all have a responsibility to make this happen.
We will ensure that:
- The welfare of the child remains paramount.
- All children whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs and/ or sexual identity have the right to be protected from harm.
- All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.
- All staff and volunteers working at our school have a responsibility to report concerns to Mrs Lianna Willis (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Mrs Nikki Sawyer, Mrs Hayley Smith or Mrs Rebecca Craig (Deputy Safeguarding Leads)
- All staff have an up-to-date understanding of safeguarding children issues and are able to implement the safeguarding children policy and procedures appropriately. Policies are in line with current guidance and procedures. Staff will be vigilant in order to maintain the safety of our children.
- Our approach to safeguarding children is a collaborative one, so that early support and intervention can be offered to families. However, our overwhelming priority will always be the welfare of the child.

Early Help
Every family goes through challenging times at some point. Early help means working with you and your family so that small problems don’t become big problems. Early help is for everybody, for families with children and young people of any age. And it’s your choice whether to have it or not.
Why would I want early help?
There are lots of reasons why people look for early help. It could be that you’re worried about your child’s health, development or behaviour, or how they’re doing at school, or perhaps because you are caring for a disabled child. It may be that you’re worried about money or housing and how that is affecting your family. Maybe your child or your family is affected by domestic abuse, drugs or alcohol or crime. Perhaps your child is a carer for other people, or maybe you’ve had a bereavement in the family that’s made life a
real challenge.
